Straight and Narrow

Addiction and Obsession are a lot alike.

When you’re addicted, you’re obsessed with doing that drug or taking that drink. When you’re obsessed, you’re addicted to work or maybe a person. One is so negative and the other could be seen as positive. But they both can be positive if you want. If you have that addictive personality, you will always have the chance to go down the wrong path, and fast. If you went down that path, you have to find something else to get addicted to, something good. Make your own path through the woods to get to the straight and narrow.

There is no map set in stone, you can veer from the path at any time in your life. If you get stuck in the woods and you’re lost, call out for help. Don’t do it alone, you’re not alone. You may be just behind that bush away from reaching your path and just by calling out, someone grabs your arm and pulls you through. And almost always, that friend will walk with you down that path for as long as you’re willing. If you are on the straight and narrow, and hear a voice calling from the deep, reach out, pull them in and you will find that all along, it was more rewarding to help. Don’t join them in the woods because you may get lost once again.

But remember, if you’re on that easy path, that wide stretch that so many others are walking on, don’t you dare reach out and pull somebody in. It’s not fair, they thought you, as a friend, were pulling them to the right path and instead they were led to destruction.

Life has many twists and turns, thorn bushes and sunflowers, darkness and bright. But stay addicted, always obsess to get to the path that leads to the light.
